7 Reasons Not To Skip the Maternity Session | Nova Maternity Photographer

As a Nova Maternity Photographer, I’m always asked if the maternity session is worth it. I know it can seem like there are plenty of reasons to opt out, but as a mom who has been around this block twice, the images from my own maternity sessions are some I cherish the most. Here are seven of my favorite reasons to consider adding a maternity session to your baby’s photography package.

Document “How We Were”

These maternity sessions are a beautiful way to capture the “last photos” of you and your partner as a couple. No longer are you a family of two, and your lives will be forever changed once the baby arrives. We love helping you preserve this time in a special way.

Document Your Growing Family

If you don’t fall into the category above anymore because that ship has already sailed, it is also a great way to capture images of your growing family. Whether you have one or a few, this is still no less special a time than the first. Plus, little ones love how special it feels to be included in these portraits, too! A NOVA maternity session is the perfect way to document the joy and excitement of adding a new family member.

Revisiting The Past

Our kids love flipping through our family albums, and you know the questions that come with curious toddlers. We have loved every moment of revisiting my pregnancy with them, and our images mean so much to all of us. One day, your baby can look back at these photos of your family during the excitement of the pregnancy!

With Us, You Have Options

As a DC & Northern Virginia maternity photographer I offer two options for maternity sessions: a full session at a location of your choice or a petite in-studio session. Both are excellent options and allow you to choose the session that fits your schedule and budget! As a Nova maternity photographer, we firmly believe this season (and you) deserves documenting.

Did We Mention The Pampering

No, we aren’t talking about diapers quite yet. Scheduling a DC or Nova maternity session for yourself is also self-care. It’s a perfect excuse to pamper yourself and get dressed up for a date after your session!

You will never regret the photos you take, but you will likely regret the ones you DIDN’T take. This is such an incredibly special time for your growing family, and we have options to ensure everyone gets the chance to preserve these memories.

Yes, Mama, You Really Did That

Not everyone feels their best pregnant, but it is miraculous to look back at what our bodies can do and to be able to celebrate that. There’s an incredible amount of anticipation and excitement around this time, and we love celebrating you in the process. You may be surprised with how beautiful you feel when you look back one year (or ten years later). We promise you won’t regret it!
