As a family photographer in Alexandria, VA, one of my favorite things is watching the families of my clients grow! This crew has a few things in common with my own, including the cutest set of twins!

I loved getting to know this family during our planning period before their session. Mom and I have had the best time chatting about all things “Twin Life” and adding a new baby to the mix.
Over the last few months, they’ve had the best time celebrating their newest addition, Poppy. They decided to wait until baby had arrived earth side before learning if they were welcoming a boy or girl, which I loved! Mom and I laughed throughout the entire session about how chaotic and wonderful life with twins is and how much we have both loved being twin moms!
Poppy’s Newborn Session
Poppy and her family arrived at my Gainesville studio ready for our session. Thanks to our planning meeting before their session, we had already arranged for a wardrobe for the entire family.
Big Brother and Sister were so excited about getting in some extra snuggle time with their baby sister and were so gentle and patient with her.
Poppy was the sweetest little babe and gave us some precious gazes right at the camera before falling asleep for the rest of her session. I loved the outfits that Mom chose for her and how cuddly she looked. How can you resist a bow moment with a new baby girl?!
Mom chose the prettiest dresses, and I love that she opted for two looks for the session. The pink was such a beautiful choice. I loved the all-white matching dresses for the girls at the end of the session.
This session is one I hold so near and dear to my heart. Here’s what Mama had to say about our time together!

“I cannot say enough good things about Emily and the experience we had taking newborn pictures. Honestly, what a dream come true! From the first time we spoke on the phone, it felt like we clicked. She was articulate about what she could do and her process and also provided an awesome balance of flexibility for any hopes or requests I had for the photos.
She answered my questions and gave me complete confidence that she was the right fit for me and my family. Preparing for the photos was easy, too- she was so accommodating (and patient- ha!) in helping me figure out outfits, bending over backward, it felt like, to get it just right. Seriously, the dresses she provided from her wardrobe were out of this world – she really knocked it out of the park to help bring it all together. I was obsessed with several of them!!
Then, once the big day arrived, it was really enjoyable. We all know how stressful family photos can be, and this really felt stress-free and like we were in the home of a friend. It wasn’t rushed, and Emily’s style was so laid-back and helpful that it allowed my entire family – including our five-year-old twins! —to be at ease and comfortable. I cannot emphasize this enough.
The pictures turned out even better than I dreamed and hoped for. 🙂 I could not even believe how perfect they felt for the vision we had and how easy it felt like it all came together. We’ll cherish these photos of our sweet baby Poppy and our family of 5 forever. Plus, now I feel like I can call Emily a friend. Win, win!”
